Well, someone’s had enough of this conversation she can’t understand.

Also – backgrounds, wooo! After so many pages of very little background, this was a challenge and I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. Between that and the rush of action in the first 4 panels (and those being so tightly packed together) I really wanted this page to snap us right back into the reality of what’s going on – i.e. the very real, potential danger for all three of our heroes. We’ve gotten to focus on just the mystery of Onna’s situation a bit for the last few pages, but there is a lot more going on than her reluctance and Tock’s curiosity.

Also also please, if you’re interested in me posting a translation guide for the Orcish, raise your hand!

Some people believe in the power of logic, or weapons. Tock believes in the power of kindness, friendliness, and hollering at people across empty spaces.

Also, careful Onna, what’s that on your face there…. And careful Bumble, your Mother-Hen is starting to show.

Beauty and the Beast

~ A “Tock the Gnome” fairy tale, of the Brogh – the badger-folk. ~

Extra Happy and Grateful Seven Years of Tock, everyone!

I’m very excited to share this with you, and hope you enjoy it as much as I appreciate your readership.

Fairy tales are obviously a big part of the story, inspiring Tock herself to go on her quest – and the further we get, the more we’re going to see versions of certain fairy tales (that we humans are familiar with) pop up in Tock’s world.

So here’s the first, as a special treat! Hope you all look forward to more of these as much as I do (and as for how they’re going to pop up? Shhhh not telling!).

Thank you again, dear readers. Tock’s journey would not have gotten this far without you.

~ Beauty and the Beast ~

Long ago there lived a fair maiden, with her father and two sisters, in a sett much farther down the shoreline than here. Her mother had vanished before her babes were even walking, leaving their father to raise the girls alone. Still, they brightened his life, and he worked hard at trade with the neighboring setts and other nearby peoples – in order to provide for them a good and prosperous life.

Tock has had enough of this unfriendly bee-ess. Indeed she has.

Happy continued Seven Years of Tock, everyone! Stay tuned for some bonus art later.

Look there’s Tock 😀

So, though, page 77. In the 7th month of this year, 2017. And very serendipitously, next month marks 7 years of “Tock the Gnome.”

(I do have a couple special things planned to celebrate, so stay tuned everyone!)

And as I said last page, sometime soon I will be posting a short written scene that shows what’s going in that big yurt there while our heroes wait. That will be available ONLY on Patreon, so make sure to check it out there and pledge if you want to see that (and other) bonus story content! Not to mention the oodles of bonus art and world-building material that’s already posted. Just saying

Thank you, always, for reading!

Careless and free like animals
I want to live
I want to run through the jungle

Happy Pride Month everybody! This was done for a project/kinda-contest over at deviantART, where I have done much much much of my networking and fanbase-building over the years. I am very grateful for all the acceptance I’ve found and the friendships I’ve built there, and though nothing’s ever perfect, that site has been a haven for me during many frustrating “real life” art conflicts. So, despite the usual life/comic/commission busy-ness, I had to join in the celebration!

(Also, selected submissions will be featured in a new Pride Flag widget on the website, so cross your fingers for me!)

The submissions had to be centered around one of the Pride flag’s colors and the meaning of that color. Of course, I had to pick green (for nature), and it had to be Tock and Onna ❤

(By the way, I hope none of you think this is a big big spoiler – I have intended this attraction to be obvious from the start. I promise there will be lots of fun story goodness in watching this play out against Tock’s quest. Ohohoho.)

This was inspired by the same-sex relationships found in nature. I wanted to do something a bit different though, so I chose lesbian does, gay male goldfinches, and non-binary pangolins (because….pangolins). And Tock and Onna together as a queer representation of Faerie.

Thank you all for continuing to stick with the comic – Tock and Onna and Bumble and all of their magical, messed-up world. If you’re celebrating this month, I send you SUCH love and I hope you have a fantastic time being truly you!
And again, thanks dA, for being a place for me to express my big gay self for so many years, now.
