In honor of this very Faerie of months, we’re having an open house!
From today until June 30th, ALL Patreon updates – meaning bonus posts at all levels – will be posted publicly, so non-patrons will get to see what benefits come with supporting this comic 😀 At the end of the month, existing patrons and any new patrons will get an extra treat by regular mail, too!
The first post each month, by the way, is an exclusive drawing of Mariatu – frequently featured in in backstory bonus posts. Most of the time that is a pencil drawing, not finished like this (but I wanted to do something special today).
And happy Junefae, everyone!
(On that note, of course, Mermay is over – catchup posting will commence soon <3)
Time for another patrons-only world building post, dear readers! This week we’re looking at a bit more Mermish history connected to the magic we talked about last week. Inspired by Mermay day 14, “Nerd.”
Aaaaand more Mermay catchup!
This one is a bit late due to life kicking my butt this week, so thank you for your patience, dear readers.
Today we’re taking a quick look at the kind of birds that attacked Tock and Bumble on page 29. I have come to call them Yowlbatrosses…..
Time for another patrons-only world building post, dear readers!
Continuing our theme from last week, here’s a better portrait of the Gnomish royal family, as they are now. We will be looking a bit at what happened to Adamine after last week’s trauma, how this family formed, and where they are now.
Reminders – “Tock the Gnome” is available to read for free both here and on Patreon (where there is much bonus art, story and world-building to boot), so please do check it it out if you haven’t yet! ~ Also, call for artists is still open for “Prints for Pam-a-Lamb.” ~ And prints of my own work, comic books, coloring books and needlefelted OOAK dolls are available anytime on Etsy.
Time for another Patrons-only world building post! This week we’re looking at magic again – specifically, the cultures that have it, and why that is so.
As has been implied, the Gnomes of Tock’s world do not have magic. Magical forces show up in some of their legends, and they hear stories of it existing in other cultures – especially in the Lowlands – but it has been a long, LONG time since any such force was present in their own kind. And as we’ve seen, the Orcs don’t appear to have magic, either.
So, if magic exists, where is it and why do its keepers still have it, if the Orcs and Gnomes don’t?
Time for another patrons-only world building post!
This week we’ll be looking a bit more at the Brogh – specifically how they use magic in battle, since they do have access to it.
Here’s a little preview:
“As I’ve implied before, the Brogh are more of a peaceful nature than not, but with the Orcs attacking them so often they do have to defend themselves. As such, they have developed several forms of defensive magic (a literal first line of defense, just trying to keep them out altogether) and enhancement magic, for themselves and their weapons, when the defensive measures fail….”
One day late, my apologies! Here’s yesterday’s patrons-only world-building post.
This week we’re looking a little bit at the quietness of this tree, and it’s forest….
