Challenge complete! 💚🙌💚
Blessed Samhain as well, to all beloved living and beloved dead.
So here’s Onna, at the burial site of her beloved mentor, shortly before Tock’s arrival. More context available for patrons as always. And if you are celebrating today, may your day be filled with wonder and magic (and candy!).
World Building Wednesday time! Which means, time for another patrons-only world building post, dear readers! (And last one of this most Orcish of months!)
This week, we’re looking at how Orcs currently deal with solar eclipses – and how they used to. All through the lens of a bonus, backstory short story, too!
Here we go!! (Not including today’s which will be drawn later.)
Which also would have been World Building Wednesday, but that had to be on pause for last week due to show prep. Anyhow, here’s something about what happens (or used to happen) during eclipses….
From the aforementioned show prep event!
Warrior and Tea Faerie ❤
Queer loves inspired by a recent rewatch of Thor: Ragnarok (yes yes).
Inspired by a recent viewing of “The Hobbit.” ….I love me some Tolkien, I do, but whenever I watch anything LotR-related I end up drawing some of my own Orcs very, very confused.
Language note! ‘Eka’ means ‘no.’ Full Orcish Language Guide available here.
The 27th/Sunday Gnomedays 10-27-19
I imagine these two end up on wondrous adventures, protecting whatever preciousness that star stands for.
Sometimes, you’ve gotta be fierce and stern.
More to come – we’re almost there, everybody!
(Aaaaaand in case you don’t follow my other sites- next month’s drawing challenge prompt list is up here!)
Look for me at their new location, 124 West State Street, from 12-5pm 10/26!! I’ll have prints and issues of “Tock the Gnome” available, of course, AND I’ll be doing free sketches like I did for Free Comic Book Day 😀
Hope to see you there!!
(Also, this newly-finished old sketch stands for Sunday Gnomedays 10-20-19 and Orctober the 21st! See below for the stand-in Orctober and Sunday Gnomedays I posted last minue on Instagram yesterday for the 20th.)
The March of the Background Orcs does indeed continue!
This is Gruska – the guard that is currently in charge of watching Onna as she escorts Tock and Bumble to the clan’s camp. Randomly smiling, and taking her hair down.
I imagine someone’s teasing her about something at the end of the day, at home. That second speech bubble translates to “You think?”
Little bit of catchup!
Firstly, 17, a Tock-style Orcish matron (mostly just playing around with Orc fashion and flowy hair ^^; ).
And secondly, 18 – featuring Tol, a side character who warms my heart because he is one of the only members of Onna’s clan who is still polite to her (….well, polite-ish 😅).
This maaaaaay also begin a March of the “Tock the Gnome” Background Orcs because there’s so many that are fun to draw and won’t be getting a lot of page-time (and which technically already started on day two…). We shall see!

Time for another patrons-only world building post, dear readers!
Today, continuing with Orcish celebration, we are looking at how the Orcs use their written language – what is not recorded that way vs. what is.
Thanks for your patience, everybody, while I was away at my brother’s wedding!
(These are not in numerical order, but follow my notes in the order the images are posted above, and it will all make sense.)
So, numbers 14, 12 and 15, first – all three of those being Tock-verse-framed BUT 14 and 15 being non-exactly-canon, as the Orcs are not exactly aware of broader Faerie (…yet) and don’t have magic (…at the moment).
And lastly, number 13/Sunday Gnomedays 10-13-19 – a non-Tock entry (gasp!) featuring Orc and Gnome of “Orc and Gnome’s Mild Aventures!” If you haven’t checked out their comic yet, DO! It is veryvery fun, and another adventure-based Orc/Gnome romance. Delicious ❤
Stayed tuned for more “Tock the Gnome” Orctober later today with World Building Wednesday!
Also, this will be the last one for a couple of days – I’ll be travelling out of town for my brother’s wedding! I’ll try to keep up on my Instagram, but I won’t be around a computer to keep up with cross-posting. So, see you next week for another batch of Orcish catchup!
About one third there! 🙌
I feel like this Orc is newly married, and having received a flower from their beloved, feels very loved and blessed.
Also, a bird, because I needed one today 🍃
Back to something peaceful, inspired by the Autumn trees that are almost nearly out of leaves!
(Have I mentioned that I love Fall? I love Fall.) 🍃🍂🍁🍂🍃
Fallen a bit behind with cross-posting If you mind terribly, remember to keep an eye on my Instagram for more timely updates!
I had a different plan for this one, but needed to do something simpler than that yesterday, so here we are.
Had a rough moment earlier and this is what came out of it. So much for staying soft 😅
Welcome to another patrons-only world building post, dear readers – and once again,
h a p p y O r c t o b e r !!! ❤
As the above sprig of lavender may imply, we’re looking a little bit more at an aspect of Orcish life that I’ve mentioned before – hunting and gathering.
I did the thing!!!
Day 31, “Magic”
Chosen specifically for the magicy magical day of Halloween!
These Orcs, by the way, do not have magic in Tock’s time – so I imagine the feeling of it would be quite a jarring.
Bonus – “The Orcs Unite Us”
Collaboration with the amazing basileonardo, who was kind enough to ask me to draw with him (go check out his page, his Orcs are amazing!) 💕
And that makes a COMPLETE challenge!! Congrats to everyone who participated.
Thank you to everyone who stuck with me this month, and welcome to any new followers from it!
I hope you all stay with me and look forward to what comes next 🤗
(…….Gnomevember, that is!)
Day 29, “Skull”
(Almost drew her making a kissy-face at it, but I think this came out even better.)
Day 30, “Rest”
Featuring Onna and Tock once again (though I’m sure they’ll get plenty of attention during Gnomevember 💕). Felt like this was a good lead up to the coming Gnome-focused challenge – and those of you following the comic will hopefully appreciate this moment of schmoop ….since they’re taking their time to get there ^^;
One day more!!!
Catching up again 😀 We’re almost there!
Day 25, “Love”
This idea came to me, a manifestation of how we must channel Love through ourselves in order to give it to others….. I’m happier with it the more I look at it, but it still doesn’t exactly match what was in my mind. Hope the meaning still comes across okay.
Day 26+27, “History” and “Fire”
I ended up combining these two with the idea that for these Orcs, the central campfire of their tribe’s camp represents their connection to their sun deity and all their ancestors that walked the path of life before them.
Day 28, “Breath”
Featuring an Orc noblewoman and a Gnome noblewoman, to account for the hat (“Tock the Gnome” Gnomes only wear pointed hats for status reasons and fancy occasions, more on that at Patreon here).
And as for the image itself – we all breathe the same air, don’t we?
More catchup time ^^; Thank you for your patience, dear readers, its been a very trying week.
Firstly, time for another World Building Wednesday post, then catch-up in order.
World Building Wednesday 17 & Orctober twenty four, “Wise”
Prompt, Stars. Leading to another patrons-only World Building post, in which we’re talking about Orc weddings, marriage, and a bit about gender.
Commitment to Faerie. Commitment to life. Committment to oneself ❤
Needed something more positive and peaceful for this one, even if there must be a bit of violent seriousness.
(Posting from my phone, so no handy links, buuuut instead enjoy this preview of my freshly carved Samhain pumpkin!)
(…..Orctober is the best 😀 )
Day 14, “Leader” (also Sunday Gnomedays 10-14-18)
Since this one fell on a Sunday, we get both Orcish and Gnomish goodness! Which inspired me to illustrate two of those current leaders – Queen Adamine of the Gnomes, and Chieftain Keesa of Onna’s as-yet-unnamed tribe (who’s also been featured in the recent pages of the comic!).
Behind Keesa are echoes of other Chieftains, because she’s not the only one – each tribe has it’s own Chieftain, and they are all equal in Orcish society. The Gnomes, as I’ve mentioned before, have a single monarch – currently Queen Adamine, who’s from a long line of other ruling royals. That relic she’s holding is important to her bloodline, buuuuuuut more on that in the future ❤
More on both of them in general, of course, available in the bonus material at Patreon.
Day 15, “Capture”
…..which stumped me at first, but then this hit me very clearly and DEMANDED to be drawn. As far as I can tell, there’s more to this abduction that it seems, and I think that “princess” is going to be just fine.
Which got me thinking about Onna, and what she thinks she “should” have been 🤫
(Today’s/Sunday Gnomedays coming later, with prompt “Leader”….)
In all the Orctober rush, I missed this week’s World Building Wednesday! Since it focused on a bit more of their nomadic culture, though, the Orctober post that fell on that day DOES count!
So for this week, let’s take a closer at the Orcish mounts, the Hogdragons.
(And more Orctober List catching-up will come later. There was a bit of a snafu with yesterday’s prompt.)
