Time for another patrons-only world building post, dear readers!
This week, as you might have expected, we are looking at a basic redesign for Orcish tents (to be used in all previous page correction and future pages). Full design work and notes available to all my patrons – click here for the full post!
Page production is on hold until further notice, and I have an apology to make.
When I first designed the Orcs of Tock’s world, I chose to have them live in yurts because I simply and ignorantly thought yurts are lovely and wanted to draw them. I did not consider their history and cultural context at all, and in doing so have paid a striking disrespect to the cultures they come from.
It doesn’t matter that Tock’s story takes place in a Faerie setting away from that context – human inspiration still needs to be taken responsibly, and I wasn’t thinking or acting responsibly at the time. I did not intend to appropriate anything, but I have, and I am truly sorry, especially to anyone who may have been offended by what has been depicted in the comic.
I intend to correct every page that features the yurts, which will take some design adjustment and redrawing. More information on my timeline for that asap. In the meantime, bonus art and weekly bonus worldbuilding will be up as scheduled on Patreon.
Thanks very much to all of my readers for your patience while I correct this issue 💗
Holding hands 😀 And finally, some movement!
Catchup posting for the last two Sunday Gnomedays, booth photos from the last two events I did, and this and last month’s Ranger level bonus drawings will be up soon, buuuuuuuuuut I wanted to get this up first ❤
Thanks for your patience with updates, too -if the slow updates bother you, keep in mind that we’re getting closer to my first goal here on Patreon, $50 monthly, which means I would guarantee a new page each month!! So if you’re not pledging yet but enjoy reading Tock’s story, please do consider signing up!
Mermay catchup and Sunday Gnomedays will be up later, dear readers. In the meantime here’s a sneak peek of something I don’t usually post here, as it’s not directly related to this project – however, that is changing a bit!
Previous Gnome Wings focused solely on the Faerie aspect of my work, but I was inspired recently to see what steampunk elements I can add to them! Small cogs and keys are on their way to me as I speak, so for now I’ve started adjusting my color palette and adding corsets *excited rapid clapping!*
The plan for this one is to add a key on top of the corset, laying over the join in the front, and add cogs to the upper wings (as well as the normal tail-shapes I usually put at the bottom).
More on these as they come, I’m hoping to have a few ready for Salem NY Faerie Fest next month. And of course prints from the comic, as well as stickers and issues of the comic, are always available at my Etsy shop (with issues 1 and 2 available here and here free digitally for all patrons!).
Tock has some confusion.

As with issue 1, this second issue features existing pages of the comic (pages 25 to 57, a total of 33 pages) with new cover art and three written, illustrated bonus scenes exclusive to this issue.
Ever wonder what Tock and Bumble’s first couple of days cohabitating on the Bucket were like?
How about the life and fate of the bird that attacked them?
And what about the argument Onna was recalling before she ambushed them?
Answers to those questions, with exclusive art, are available now!
