Time for another patrons-only world building post, dear readers! This week we’re looking at a bit more Mermish history connected to the magic we talked about last week. Inspired by Mermay day 14, “Nerd.”

Mermay day 1 ~ World Building Wednesday 41

Counting this as this week’s WBW due to distraction from the earlier issue drop ❤ Aaand making my notes available to all readers as a special treat! Usually the actual world building text is for patrons only, while I post the associated drawings as a teaser for everyone. Check out my Patreon for more!

It’s time for another world building post, dear readers! Kicking off another month of focusing on those beneath the sea…

Though the Merfolk seem to be the dominant fae of the oceans of Tock’s world, there are still many other faeries there, including this watery version of a wil o’ the wisp! They do seem to be very rare, however, as this dolphin-maid seems very fascinated by her encounter. Like their land/air-based cousins, these water wisps often serve as guides to greater mysteries, sometimes leading ill-intentioned people astray…

More for “Seven Years of Tock!”

A little context: this is part of a two part set, working backwards from the way things are now.

Now, the characters live in a world where all the peoples are very separated. Gnomes live in technological isolation, Dwarves live buried within the plateau, Orcs keep to themselves (except to battle with the Badgerfolk, and sometimes each other). Everyone else, pretty much forgotten about.

But it was not always so, and while that lost history contains a lot of Love, it sometimes contains distinct tragedies.

Tock will learn more about these in time, but for now, here’s a little taste.

(ALSO, this one contains the oldest of the old character work that I pulled into Tock’s world for backstory, as mentioned here. You can see more of my previous work on them in their folder at my deviantArt site. So that makes this a Throwback Thursday special too, right?)

Thanks for reading, everyone! More bonuses coming up this weekend and into next week, with a special surprise on the actual anniversary day – August 30th – as promised!
