Promo – World Building Wednesday 49

IMG_20190625_171545_294
Time for another (usually) patrons-only world building post, dear readers!
For those of you visiting Patreon for the open house – each week there is a new exclusive world building post available for all patrons. I post the associated art for free as a promo, but the actual notes/story/etc. and any bonus visual notes are readable for patrons-only, at any dollar amount.
This week we’re looking at another very lost tale of the Wood Queen and the Stone Queen, characters of lore famous in the holiday stories of Peacenight-time. But though that legend ends well, it was not the final account of them:

Catchup posting for the last two Sunday Gnomedays, booth photos from the last two events I did, and this and last month’s Ranger level bonus drawings will be up soon, buuuuuuuuuut I wanted to get this up first ❤

Thanks for your patience with updates, too -if the slow updates bother you, keep in mind that we’re getting closer to my first goal here on Patreon, $50 monthly, which means I would guarantee a new page each month!! So if you’re not pledging yet but enjoy reading Tock’s story, please do consider signing up!

WIP – Steampunking up my Gnome Wings (and other shop notes)

IMG_20190525_204449_648

Mermay catchup and Sunday Gnomedays will be up later, dear readers. In the meantime here’s a sneak peek of something I don’t usually post here, as it’s not directly related to this project – however, that is changing a bit!

Previous Gnome Wings focused solely on the Faerie aspect of my work, but I was inspired recently to see what steampunk elements I can add to them! Small cogs and keys are on their way to me as I speak, so for now I’ve started adjusting my color palette and adding corsets *excited rapid clapping!*

The plan for this one is to add a key on top of the corset, laying over the join in the front, and add cogs to the upper wings (as well as the normal tail-shapes I usually put at the bottom).

More on these as they come, I’m hoping to have a few ready for Salem NY Faerie Fest next month. And of course prints from the comic, as well as stickers and issues of the comic, are always available at my Etsy shop (with issues 1 and 2 available here and here free digitally for all patrons!).

Ever wonder what Tock and Bumble’s first couple of days cohabitating on the Bucket were like?

How about the life and fate of the bird that attacked them?

And what about the argument Onna was recalling before she ambushed them?

Answers to those questions, with exclusive art, are available now!

Time for another patrons-only world building post, my dear readers!
Today we are looking at Arella’s parents – the Queen and King before she and her brother Archibald took the throne – and how Gnomish government could have worked in times of more realm-wide crisis.

Time for another patrons-only world building post, dear readers!

Continuing our theme from last week, here’s a better portrait of the Gnomish royal family, as they are now. We will be looking a bit at what happened to Adamine after last week’s trauma, how this family formed, and where they are now.

Reminders – “Tock the Gnome” is available to read for free both here and on Patreon (where there is much bonus art, story and world-building to boot), so please do check it it out if you haven’t yet! ~ Also, call for artists is still open for “Prints for Pam-a-Lamb.” ~ And prints of my own work, comic books, coloring books and needlefelted OOAK dolls are available anytime on Etsy.

Looks like Tock has figured something out – can you guess what it is? 🙂

(Shameless bonus promotion – those of you who are Patrons should be able to figure out some of what’s being said here with the Orcish Language Guide! There are quite a few new words in here, which will be updated in part 2 of the Guide soon.)

Thanks for your patience with updates, too – if the slow updates bother you, keep in mind that we’re getting closer to my first goal on Patreon, $50 monthly, which means I would guarantee a new page each month!! So if you’re not pledging me on Patreon yet, but enjoy reading Tock’s story, please do consider signing up!

A note about design changes:

As they appear on some previous and the following pages, the Orcs’ dwellings were at first completely culturally appropriated from Mongolian culture. I was not as socially aware when I started this part of the story as I am now, and I am truly sorry for having done this. I have since redesigned the Orcs’ tents and will be reposting these pages with updated panels as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the artwork for those updated panels is viewable here.

Design process for the new tents is viewable here, here and here.

Orctober, days 11 and 12

A bit more catchup, and a bit on time!

IMG_20181012_200501_548.jpg

Eleven, “Look”

As I’ve mentioned before, the Orcs trade regularly with the Gnomes (who travel to their territory for that purpose, in airships – like Bumble’s family does). So this lady appears to be considering these binoculars they brought to her tribe on a recent trip.

(Specifically inspired by a pair of power binoculars from the 19th century, found on pimall.com)

20181012_174324.jpg

Twelve, “Message”

I imagine these two are siblings, one carrying a message to the other from someone they fancy 😍 Also, I starkly realized in drawing this one that the viking deliciousness that inspired Tock-world Orc culture comes with lots of gender-stratification…..which I knew about, of course, but hadn’t applied too much to their clothing, yet. Look out for more world building on that soon!

Orctober catchup – days 5, 6 and 7

As it says 🙂 Still pushing through with these for the Orcs of Tock’s world, but life-things prevented me from posting in a timely manner this weekend.

So here we go, with catchup:

IMG_20181006_175037_959.jpg

Five, “Rush”

As I’ve talked about before on Patreon, these Orcs are nomadic hunter-gatherers. So I imagine this lady got her timing messed up and kept foraging beyond the time that her people were supposed to regroup and start packing up camp, and now she had to hurry back to them (….by the look on her face, I feel like this happens to her a lot).

IMG_20181006_181731_039.jpg

Six, “Song”

Pretty self-explanatory – though I did have something very different in mind for this one (Onna singing to Tock and Bumble, actually. She has a lovely singing voice, which hasn’t come up in the comic yet…… and I’m impatient….. ).

But the busy-ness of this weekend manifested this, instead, and I’m actually very pleased with how she came out.

Maybe most Orcs don’t sing, and as such, this lady is surprised to hear music in the forest…

IMG_20181007_140111_028.jpg

Seven, “Fight” (and Sunday Gnomedays 10-7-18)

As I’ve also mentioned before, the Orcs and the Gnomes have a pretty good trade relationship that has existed for a while. Most of the time, such visits go smoothly… but sometimes, not as much!

By the way – in order to keep things interesting (and manageable) as I fulfill each prompt, all Sunday drawings will be combined with Sunday Gnomedays, and all Wednesday drawings will be combined with World Building Wednesdays.

Full prompt list here.

Day 8 will be up later today ❤

Almost to a resolution ~ but, then!

Thank you for your patience in waiting for this page, I know it’s been a couple months ^^; That said – we’re very close to my first goal on Patreon, $50 monthly, for which I would guarantee a new page each month!! So if you’re not pledging yet but enjoy reading Tock’s story, please do consider signing up!

And as far as this page goes, I am very pleased with it myself, especially that first panel. Lots of little storytelling details in where everyone is looking 😉

And and, as I mentioned last page, The Orcish Language Guide is finally available! Click here to check it out. (Some of the words on today’s page are new, but they will be added as soon as possible.)

Lastly – Happy Orctober, too!!! I will be participating in that, even though I’m having a bit of a late start. More about that on my Instagram.

One new page for JuneFae after all!!
Getting back to understandable dialogue too – it looks like the Orcish Language Guide will be a July thing, after all, so Onna will be our guide in the meantime ;p
Also, as for those angry red eyes in panel two – this was supposed to have shown up before, but the scan doesn’t show it very well (even after photoshopping it, for some reason). Still, if you please, take a look again and keep that in mind for current events…
Thank you, dear readers, for your patience. Hope you enjoy ❤

The angst continues…..

Also continuing to use Orcish un-translated, since it’ll be important HOW they handle Tock and Bumble’s lack of understanding. Hopefully that doesn’t feel like it’s taking too long, dear readers – let me know if it’s dragging, and I will let you know when the Orcish Language Guide is available, too!

As I mentioned last time, some of these angry new faces will be familiar to you if you’ve read the “Meanwhile…” bonus scene (available to all patrons, along with many other goodies).

Patreon ‘Spirit Renewal’ Special!

spiritrenewalspecial_longfile
So today marks a special anniversary for me, and with Spring approaching, I imagine we’re all looking forward to that refreshment (….sorry any southern-hemisphere friends, unless you like Autumn!).
With gratitude for both those things in mind, it’s time for a special offer!
From today until May 1st, all existing and new “Tock the Gnome” patrons will receive a 5×7″ print of the above piece – “A Faerie Moment” – as an extra ‘thank you’ bonus!
(And to be clear, that’s the ONLY way to get a print of this piece. Ever.)
Pledging also includes access to all the other bonus material at the level you choose, of course – bonus art, early access to the pages in the form of WIP’s, world-building material and extra scenes and stories, backstory, etc.!
I may have been working on Tock’s story for 7 years now, but its been only in the last few years that I’ve really started coming at it from a healthy place, one where I am worthy of the support you all give me and the enthusiasm you have about her quest. I am very grateful that so many people have stuck with it even when I’ve been less than my best. Your support and your patience mean the world to me. Nothing fills my heart with Light and Purpose the way that sharing Tock’s world with you does.
So thank you, truly, from the bottom of my heart.
