Missed cross-posting these amidst art challenges and recent show prep, whoops! Thanks for your patience, dear readers.

Something fun AND Gnomevember-sourced (White Button Mushrooms) in regards to how much these Gnomes value mushrooms, in the face of their usual class division…

In honor of this very Faerie of months, we’re having an open house!
From today until June 30th, ALL Patreon updates – meaning bonus posts at all levels – will be posted publicly, so non-patrons will get to see what benefits come with supporting this comic 😀 At the end of the month, existing patrons and any new patrons will get an extra treat by regular mail, too!
The first post each month, by the way, is an exclusive drawing of Mariatu – frequently featured in in backstory bonus posts. Most of the time that is a pencil drawing, not finished like this (but I wanted to do something special today).
And happy Junefae, everyone!
(On that note, of course, Mermay is over – catchup posting will commence soon <3)
Finally got this done!!! It will actually be featured as the cover for issue 2, BUT I couldn’t resist sharing it today, in honor of Lesbian Visibility Day ❤
So, a special shoutout to all my fellow queer lady-loving-ladyfolks. It’s been some time since I came out, but I continue to be grateful for my journey and all parts of my identity, including this one. When I was growing up in the 90’s, it was a lot more dangerous to be openly myself. I stayed closeted for a while, and then only opened up to select people as I felt necessary. And only when I felt safe. That got better as time went on – as I found a community of other LGBTQ+ people, as I fell in love and gradually became more accepted by my family and other people in my general communities (thank the Gods that we are e v e r y w h e r e ).
That said, there is still M U C H progress to be made. I feel like my culture pretty well accepts cisgender gay men and lesbians who fit into it’s accepted heterosexual “norm” (find one person, get married, have babies), but genderqueer visibility, nonbinary visibility, trans visibility, pansexual visibility, asexual visibility, etc. etc. etc. is just beginning to be addressed, let alone respected. And even though I feel safer in general, there are still SO many places in my country and the world where it’s still not “okay” to show my own love openly.
We are still worlds away from the constant fear I felt about my sexuality when I was first figuring it out, so on this day I can’t help but be grateful for the progress we HAVE made – and hopeful for even more. Safety and visibility for ALL people sooner and sooner.
Time for another patrons-only world building post, dear readers!
This week, inspired by the nature in which I celebrate St. Paddy’s Day, here’s a look at the Selkie folk of Tock’s world, and how their closest neighbors – the Elves – tend to view them.
Prompted by my participation in Fairy Fae Week over on Instagram (….whaaaat? This one’s only 7 days, not 30 😅). Today’s prompt was Light or Dark, and I went with both. Previous/following prompts will be posted here sometime later this week.
As I’ve mentioned before, the Elves of Tock’s world see morality very differently than other races. They are very aware of the balance necessary between Light and Dark, comfort and sorrow, peace and pain….
