In honor of this very Faerie of months, we’re having an open house!
From today until June 30th, ALL Patreon updates – meaning bonus posts at all levels – will be posted publicly, so non-patrons will get to see what benefits come with supporting this comic 😀 At the end of the month, existing patrons and any new patrons will get an extra treat by regular mail, too!
The first post each month, by the way, is an exclusive drawing of Mariatu – frequently featured in in backstory bonus posts. Most of the time that is a pencil drawing, not finished like this (but I wanted to do something special today).
And happy Junefae, everyone!
(On that note, of course, Mermay is over – catchup posting will commence soon <3)
Finally got this done!!! It will actually be featured as the cover for issue 2, BUT I couldn’t resist sharing it today, in honor of Lesbian Visibility Day ❤
So, a special shoutout to all my fellow queer lady-loving-ladyfolks. It’s been some time since I came out, but I continue to be grateful for my journey and all parts of my identity, including this one. When I was growing up in the 90’s, it was a lot more dangerous to be openly myself. I stayed closeted for a while, and then only opened up to select people as I felt necessary. And only when I felt safe. That got better as time went on – as I found a community of other LGBTQ+ people, as I fell in love and gradually became more accepted by my family and other people in my general communities (thank the Gods that we are e v e r y w h e r e ).
That said, there is still M U C H progress to be made. I feel like my culture pretty well accepts cisgender gay men and lesbians who fit into it’s accepted heterosexual “norm” (find one person, get married, have babies), but genderqueer visibility, nonbinary visibility, trans visibility, pansexual visibility, asexual visibility, etc. etc. etc. is just beginning to be addressed, let alone respected. And even though I feel safer in general, there are still SO many places in my country and the world where it’s still not “okay” to show my own love openly.
We are still worlds away from the constant fear I felt about my sexuality when I was first figuring it out, so on this day I can’t help but be grateful for the progress we HAVE made – and hopeful for even more. Safety and visibility for ALL people sooner and sooner.
Belatedly, that is, BUT that and Throwback Thursday all in one, as a result!
This week at Patreon we’re talking about the Elven Queensguard and government, as it was in the time of Misu and Mariatu 🌊💗🌊
This drawing features Reina, the Elven Queen from that time – who is one of the few characters from my pre-Tock work that has survived intact! (She’s on the left, btw.)
Here she is, in older incarnations:
(She looks pretty much the same, as you can see, except that now she gets to be happier! Yay! ……sorry Arella.)
(Also, shoutout to @photos_by_trinityhawk in the last older drawing, since it belongs to him 👍👍 and to my amazing Wife for fixing the ring in the picture and getting me into the show that inspired this drawing in the first place 😍 ).
More for “Seven Years of Tock!”
A little context: this is part of a two part set, working backwards from the way things are now.
Now, the characters live in a world where all the peoples are very separated. Gnomes live in technological isolation, Dwarves live buried within the plateau, Orcs keep to themselves (except to battle with the Badgerfolk, and sometimes each other). Everyone else, pretty much forgotten about.
But it was not always so, and while that lost history contains a lot of Love, it sometimes contains distinct tragedies.
Tock will learn more about these in time, but for now, here’s a little taste.
Thanks for reading, everyone!

Reimagining an old character for her role in Tock’s story, way down the line. That’s all I’ll say for now ❤
Page 66 is coming along very slowly, but still, on its way.
