Seven Years of Tock!

sevenyearsoftock_wm

As it says on the tin – on August 30th, 2010, this project was officially launched and “Tock the Gnome” was born ❤

I am so very grateful to everyone who’s kept an eye on the comic and everything else related to Tock’s world – and as such, this month leading up to her ‘birthday’ will be filled with lots of bonus content! Stay tuned for more bonus art, bonus story snippets, a look back at what got this project started in the first place, and a special surprise on the 30th itself!

If there’s anything that you’re curious about or would like to see, please leave a comment or send me a note. Also, page 78 is well on its way and will certainly be part of the celebration. And in the meantime, lots of existing goodies are available already over on Patreon.

Thank you, always, for your support dear readers! I hope you look forward to what this August brings.

Hi everyone. Here’s a little bit of the next page again – progress has been really slow lately as I have some Big Art News going on that applies to all my Faerie work, not just Tock. I’ve been invited to vend, as in selling prints of my work, at a local festival!

That’s Gnome and Fairy Fest, here in Ithaca, NY, on October 1st. Two weeks from today, oh my goodness. Most of my art time lately has therefore been going to the production of those prints and other items for sale at my booth, as well as to making coloring page images that I’ll have available for free there, to draw people in! (The people planning the festival are just lovely, and so community minded, so they’re big on each booth having an activity if possible.)

Obviously, much of what I’ll be featuring involves Tock and her crew, so I will share more once I have more prints made, etc. There’s even going to be a sign promoting the comic and business cards just for Tock, so I’ll be uploading the illustration I did for that card soon.

And in the meantime, thanks for your patience and for keeping an eye out for Tock’s adventures here ❤

(And and, if you want to see more previews of the next page and the thumbnails of the next four pages, please check out my patreon!)

Change in nature

I’ve been working on this comic for just over 3 years now (wow), and as you might have noticed, I’ve been struggling to keep any kind of a regular update schedule the whole time.

This has gotten especially difficult over the past year, due to health issues and other Real Life time demands.

I know this sounds like a comic cancellation notice, but its not. I just need to rethink how I’m going about this. Tock, Bumble, their friends and all their stories are still VERY important to me. But I need to do them justice, too.

So: From now on, “Tock the Gnome” will no longer function as a webcomic. I just can’t meet the kind of assumed schedule webcomics have to meet.

Instead, I’ll be looking at it as more of a graphic novel in-progress, and spending more time focusing on world building as well. This will, I hope, be for the best, since that will make a much more solid foundation for Tock’s story.

Updates will continue to be random, but I’ll hopefully be posting MORE of them (with the focus on world building, that is). Pages will be posted when I have time to do them – I hope to find a comfortable balance between spending time planning and spending time drawing. Luckily, some of that planning will involve sketching, so again, hopefully that means more posts. We’ll see.

IMPORTANT: This also means that some of the world building material will contain spoilers for the comic. I will tag them properly, but still. Be forewarned.

If you prefer to just watch for the pages, I’ll be posting those and canon-only illustration over on my deviantART page.

Thank you, so very much, if you choose to keep following (and for keeping an eye on this project so far). I still have big plans, and I hope to see them through, even though its happening differently than I planned when I started this site in 2010.

I hope you stick around to see what becomes of Tock and Bumble 🙂
