Getting much closer to actually being able to mention the Orc Lady’s name, thank goodness.
Really really really not canon (yet, anyway), and not sure where this came from. But yes.
With most of the Orcish widow there beneath them, since they were drawn on the same page.
Also, intended this Gnome’s love to be a Dwarf, so I’m not sure why they’d be wearing a Gnomish hat. Hmm.
Minor Spoilers for “The Rescue Quest” follow!!!
An old old old sketch of four of the Tock the Gnome races, as ladies, that is. Clockwise from the front – Gnome, Brogh (as first featured here), Orc and Dwarf.
Will likely be doing another of these once more information gets revealed.
Another page done :)
Also, trivia time – I started this comic because, back in 2010, I wanted to submit a shorter webcomic to Crossed Genres for the membership section of their website. If I’d gotten in, I would have had to limit the story to 52 pages (one per week for a year). So if that had been the case, this page – the 52nd – would have been the last one.
While it would have been nice to have a finished comic by now, and I do struggle with getting pages done, I’m still glad where I’m at now and how much further I’m able to go with the story as it has developed.
The original sketch I did of Tock’s most recent outfit. Still my favorite <3
I might as well say now that traditional fairy tales, I mean the ones we know as humans, are going to be referenced in Tock’s story from time to time. So this is a part of that (though I’ll not say which ones).
Slight “Rescue Quest” Spoilers follow!
Chibi-style sketch of three ladies from Tock’s world – a Gnome in the middle (of course), an Orc to her left and a Brogh to her right.
The Brogh haven’t been introduced yet, as they’re another race of the Lowlands that the Gnomes don’t know much about – even less than they know about Orcs, in fact – but as you can see here, they’re a race of badger people. They also have a lot of magic, and a very strong connection to nature. This will be very important eventually.
Finished up this sketch :) Also neglected to mention in the sketch description that, apparently, Bumble counts down from high numbers when he’s stressed. As usual, Tock doesn’t notice.
And again, I hope to write something to go with this, so you might see it updated in the future.
Oh, and a Blessed Beltane/May Day, everyone <3
Remember this lineart? Well, finished it up.
Things are changing, yes, but I’m still very excited to see what happens with these two.
Something I did for fun a while back. Its been suggested that I finish this up and make stickers of it, so I just might :)
Happy new year, everyone :)
Also, still watermarking the pages now, and I didn’t do as much editing post-scan on this one. Please let me know if looks different in a bad way. And of course, thank you for reading.
A sketch I started a while ago, and just finished up, of Bumble’s immediate family (minus Tock). Lots of menfolk involved in Sprizzenfritz Airships, looks like….
Finally back to working on pages again :)
Also trying out a little something new – putting watermarks on the pages. Please let me know if its distracting/bothersome/etc.
Also also, for those of you reading from New York State, I’ll be attending the New York Faerie Festival tomorrow afternoon. Not as a vendor, just for fun. But still, if you see me there, feel free to say hi.
And thanks, as always, for reading.
Hello dear readers, this is just a quick note to say that I’ve made progress on the next page, AND I’ve been posting said progress on my Tumblr.
So if you’d like to see how its coming along so far, please take a look there! And in any case, I plan to have Page 50 finished and posted here very soon.
Thank you all for sticking with me, I hope you like what’s coming :)
Another random something while I’m waiting to be able to work on pages again.
Fun fact! The world of Tock’s story is set in originally developed out of some
assuredly godawful Sailor Moon fanfiction I wrote in middle/high school.
Luckily, it evolved into something way more complex.
But Sailor Moon was my first anime, and I loved it, so I still get random bouts of nostalgia every now and then. This happened during one of those.
No new pages yet, but to mark the day, I’m posting this in-progress piece of a certain Orc and a certain Gnome sharing a dance <3
This will be finished with simple color in the style of the comic pages eventually. And hopefully I’ll have something more to post soon. Thanks, as always, for reading.
So this isn’t for sale (if there ever is Tock jewelry for sale, trust me, you’ll know), but my amazing, amazing fiancee made some Tock-inspired jewelry for me this past Valentine’s Day and I wanted to share <3
Also, yup, that’s me. Hullo.
Next page next week.
This is one of those moments where I’m sure, if logic prevailed, Bumble would try to have Tock committed.
There’s very little chance Page 49 will be up on time tomorrow, due to other claims on my time (as usual). The pencil work is done, though, and the ink work is just started, so I expect to have it up by Wednesday instead.
For your patience, though, here’s a preview of the first panel : )
Just before my recent troubles, I went through a random Western-kick, so I ended up drawing this (I’d attempted this idea before, but not as successfully).
On that note, thanks to the generosity of several people, I do have supplies again, so I should be back to regular updates next week! Thanks to anyone who saw my post last week about donations and helped me out, and thanks as always for reading :)
Fun fact: I keep the original copies of each page in an Itoya portfolio, and as of this page, I’ve finally filled one up :)
