Bonus art – Gnome/Dwarf lovin’
So these are not characters who will actually appear in the story per se (and please excuse the bumps in the paper from the scan). I drew this for my amazing girlfriend (and co-creator of Tock’s story) recently and wanted to share.
These two are actually based on a couple of our toons from WoW, drawn as if they existed in Tock’s world. I imagine the Gnome woman is a soldier in the Queen’s army (the jacket should look familiar), and the Dwarven woman is a rogueish individual involved in a kind of black-market trading (due to a certain level of strictness in Dwarven culture – more on that some other time).
This should be the last piece of bonus art before page updates resume! Thanks again for your patience, and for reading
Bonus art – Nosebump
Two Gnome women bumping noses, indicating their romantic interest in one another.
In Gnomish courtship, bumping noses is the step before – and just as serious – as the first kiss. Its often used to clarify intentions, if the two involved were friends first. Touching noses is also sometimes a greeting between family members, but obviously in a different context and with different weight.
Upcoming Filler
Life has gotten a bit complicated recently, and will probably remain so for the next couple of weeks. As such, the next three weeks will be bonus work (finished pieces too, not sketches) while things calm down.
Thank you for being patient with me. Page 29 will be up as soon as its done.
And please check out the Facebook Page, if you’re so inclined, for more up-to-date reports during the wait.

Regular page updates resume next week!
Page delay, beginning of Filler
As I mentioned in the “Ask Tock” post a couple weeks ago, I’ll be posting filler material again soon, due to a big cross-state move I’ll be making at the end of the month. The original plan was to post one more page before the filler, but that isn’t working out as planned.
So, instead, I’ll be starting the filler material next Monday, April 18th. I am sorry for the delay on the pages, but with everything that has to be done before we leave, its pretty much unavoidable. Still, I have something interesting planned to keep you entertained until life gets settled again.
In place of normal updates, I’ll be sharing the story of two characters we won’t get to meet in-canon for a while:
Tock’s parents.
From now until June 6th (when normal updates resume) I will be posting weekly updates about these two. Information will be paired with sketches, giving a look into how they met, and how they brought Tock into the world.
I apologize for the delay on the main story, but if you like back-story, this will be well worth it. Thanks for reading!
Page 13 delay – but, with bonus sketch!
Due to the demands of real life over the last two weeks, I’m sorry to announce that page 13 will not be up today as scheduled. However, here’s a little sneak peek at something to come in Tock and Bumble’s future:
Thank you for your understanding. Page 13 will be posted, for realsies, by Monday 2/28.
Gnomish Culture Bonus Material, part 2
The Gnomish royal family consists of their Queen, called Adamine, and her daughter, the Princess Bartelbia (the King, who was called Riordan, passed away from the side-effects of an experiment gone wrong several decades ago). Queen Adamine’s family has ruled since shortly after the technological revolution.
She is a kind but firm ruler, very focused on not only the security of her people, but also setting an example for them culturally. Despite the availability of airship travel, she has never visited the rest of the continent, in order to further set this example. It may seem at first glance that this does the Gnomes a disservice – keeping them “caged” in their own kingdom – but because she is a benevolent queen, it is assumed by her subjects that her motivations are for the greater good.
Very little is known by the public about Princess Bartelbia. Though she is of marrying age, she appears very infrequently, and says even little. Possible reasons for this are often the subject of street gossip, especially among the working classes.
